You can apply for a name change on your Voter ID through the NVSP portal or the Voter Helpline app using Form 8, or visit your local ERO office.
You’ll need to provide supporting documents such as a gazette notification, marriage certificate, or affidavit along with a valid ID proof showing your updated name.
If your name has been misspelled or printed incorrectly on the Voter ID, you can correct it through the NVSP portal by submitting a scanned ID proof with the correct spelling.
For women changing their name after marriage, a marriage certificate or joint affidavit with the spouse is required to update the name on the Voter ID.
The updated Voter ID usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to be processed after verification by the Electoral Registration Officer.
In Bangalore, you can apply for a Voter ID name change through the NVSP portal or visit your local BBMP or ERO office for document verification.
